“KURORT” CLOSED JOINT STOCK COMPANY

The Republic of Azerbaijan is the largest (by territory and population) republic in the Caucasus. Caucasus mountains protect the country from violent northern and western winds, creating a variety of climates and peculiar terrain. Vales and lowlands of Azerbaijan produce rich harvests of grain, cotton, tobacco, fruits and vegetables.

In Azerbaijan, you may find steppes where swift graceful gazelles run, subtropical plantations of citrus, tea, olives and saffron, fascinating meadows and pastures, forests and semi-deserts, rushing mountain rivers and lakes. Among the many lakes of Azerbaijan, there is specifically one of a rare beauty: this lake is Göygöl. All in all, olden, moody and mysterious Caspian see should also be included to the endless list of bestowals of nature in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is also known for being a land of long-livers. Bowels of Azerbaijan can be best described as a huge repository of oil, natural gas, iron ore, cobalt, and salt. Azerbaijan id the only place on Earth where naphthalane (therapeutic oil) is extracted.

Baku – the capital of Azerbaijan – is a large, vibrant and growing city, embracing eponymous bay just as if the crescent. Terraced houses climb the hills surrounding the bay. The higher you get, the more modern buildings you see. Old City, known as “Icheri Sheher” is located in close proximity to the sea. Over the centuries, the sea receded from the fortress walls; now, it is separated from the historic center by the National Seaside Park. Another prominent monument – Maiden Tower (XII c.) – stands next to the old town.

In Azerbaijan, holiday season lasts all the year round. Thousands of people spend their holidays in its numerous health resorts. There they rest and recuperate by taking naphthalane and other medicinal baths, as well as drinking mineral water of Galaalty and Sirab, relax on the shore of the Caspian Sea, and enjoy its golden sandy beaches.

Part of the resort and recreation facilities is owned by trade unions.

The outlines on the map Azerbaijan resemble an eagle, flying high above the Caspian Sea. The curved beak of a bird stretching into the sea is none other than Absheron peninsula.

Located on the same latitude as Italy and Greece, Absheron has higher average annual temperatures. In the Caucasus, Absheron confidently takes a lead by the number of sunny days (284), while placing last on account of precipitation rate. Frosts are highly uncommon for this area, as they occur every 10-15 years. Spring begins at the very beginning of March in full splendor. The swimming season in Absheron Is opened already in May. Autumn, fragrant in gold and purple colors, is characterized by apple, quince, pomegranate and grape harvest, as well as warm and sunny weather conditions.

No wonder that wonderful resorts and sanatoriums built on these fertile soils attract visitors all over the country and even from abroad.
